Assistant Accountant


PDG Aviation Services is one of the leading onshore helicopter operators in the UK and Ireland, we are currently recruiting for an Assistant Account to join our busy Accounts Department based at our Inverness Base located at Dalcross Industrial Estate. This is a full time position, with a 35-hour contract. The working hours would be Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support month and year end process, including control account reconciliations and journal preparation and processing.
  • Assist with the sales invoicing function, including oversight and management of sales invoicing for key contracts.
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers regarding any accounting enquires
  • Provide cover for processing sales and purchase invoices onto Accounts System during holidays and other busy periods as required
  • Assist with the preparation of VAT returns for UK and Ireland
  • Assist with the credit control function
  • Assist with supplier payments
  • Assist with bank reconciliations for multiple accounts including foreign currency
  • Other ad-hoc duties and accounting analysis as required
  • Liaising with external auditors

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Previous experience in an Accounts Department or Accounting Practice
  • Experience using accounting systems (PDG use Access Accounts but experience of this particular system is not essential)
  • VAT experience
  • Strong IT, numeracy, organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work on own and as part of a team
  • Relevant accounting qualification preferred but not essential
