We are currently recruiting for an experienced Overhead Linesman/Engineer to join our Utilities Division to carry out low level powerline inspections by helicopter and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) throughout the UK and Ireland.
The nominal operating base for this position with be our Wolverhampton Base, however, the role will require the individual to work remotely including extensive travel across the UK and Ireland. Occasional weekend work and standby periods may also be required, depending on operational needs.
This role is based on a 40-hour contract, working predominantly Monday to Friday, with any hours worked in excess to be taken as time off in lieu (TOIL).
We expect the successful applicant to carry out all duties in a safe, professional and efficient manner, in full adherence to Company Procedures, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Operating Procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Low level power line patrols (from 11kv to 400kv)
- Thermal Image / Corona Inspections
- Thermal Image / Corona Reports
- Foot Patrols and Reports (in areas where aviation patrols are not permitted)
- UAV inspections
- Liaising with the Operations Department, Pilots and Utilities Division Manager to ensure smooth operational processes
- Liaising directly with clients to ensure efficient project delivery while also maintaining strong working relationships
- Liaising with the Data Processing Team to coordinate data uploads and imagery following task completion
Essential Requirements
- Previous overhead linesman experience (Network Operator preferable)
- Previous competency certification
- Demonstrates calm and professional judgement under pressure
- Strong IT skills
- Good navigation skills and spatial awareness
- Meticulous attention to detail in a safety critical environment
- Safety conscious
- Excellent reliability and timekeeping
- Exceptional verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally Able to remain seated for extended periods (up to three hours) and perform tasks safely within a helicopter environment
- Flexible approach to working patterns
- Full UK driving licence
- Capable of working independently while adhering to all safety requirements without the need for direct supervision
- Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK

Training
- Full training will be provided, including classroom and on the job training with our experienced Surveyors and Utilities Division Manager
